Hmm, so is it a university issue? If so, … good luck, you will need it.
public iniversity employees must follow civil servant code of conduct and other applicable laws.
TL:DR If ur a foreinger with a university issue, you will LOSE. Sorry
But, most of the university experience that I and several friends have had was not very good most of the time, and friggin ridiculous the way they lie and blame all mistakes on the foreign students.
Even with great evidence, whoever you may want to complain against, you will have to go to their supervisor to “discuss” the issue. You will probably be given a runaround without determination and evidence. Unless, of course that supervisor has it out for the one you want to complain against, and they will jump on the chance to take revenge and use the rules as an excuse to get rid of them.
And anyone you go against, they, their friends, coworkers, etc will all be subject to an us-against-them type of gossip, where the once famously friendly Taiwanese now close ranks with you on the outside. And that will stay with you, grow and become distorted to the point where strangers you meet will know things about you that you have never even heard of before/
The specific problem I had wasn’t with a university; I was just curious. We’ve been looking for universities for my eldest daughter and my conclusion is that it is better to send her back to our country of origin. Quality of teaching, equipment, students, culture/mentality, etc. just left us speechless.
I had heard about Taiwanese closing ranks. It doesn’t matter anymore who is right or wrong. It could be the “us-vs-the foreigner” mentality. Or maybe because the Asian mentality is to have so much (too much?) respect for bigger institutions that by default, the bigger institution is always the right one.
Can one expect an impartial look at the situation by the Control Yuan and if necessary the courts? Or will it be the same thing? “No problem here, it is you, the foreigners.”
