The title of this song is a bit misleading because it’s the ROC “flag song” that’s similar to the Deutschlandlied when sped up. I have never noticed this before. Is the ROC flag song a rip off?
Well, many anthems are often a rip off of other songs. Star Spangled Banner melody comes from a bar song for example…

Haven’t heard it or been forced to stand up for it in a movie theater in years. It was required when I first arrived- don’t know when it was dropped.
ROC was the internationally recognized Chinese government during WW2, and is now a government in exile that illegally occupied the island of Taiwan, which was trusted to them after the war for preparing the island for eventual self-determination by the Taiwanese people.
Just FYI, the “Deutschland über alles” part, the first verse of the song known as the “Song of the Germans”. is not considered the national anthem, it’s the third verse only.

Without looking it up, I’m going to guess around 2010. I have memories of them playing the anthem at baseball games around 2008.
Ok, now I looked it up. The last version of the anthem video, the one that ends with Chin-feng Chen’s 2 run homerun over Japan, was edited in 2002, so they had to have played it at least for a while after 2002. I remember seeing it at the stadium if not in movie theaters.
Prior to 1991, so abolished by LTH, if you refuse to stand and sing the anthem, you’d be fined for at least 60 NTD for it.
