fileplanet.com are running a free 14 day trial of galaxies. I’ve been playing all morning, pretty good fun. 
Any can’t get this to work even though I’ve tried and tried on my PC and my girlfriends brand new, top of the line Centrino laptop…
Any idea why? Or should I just give up and go back to real life?
It says I need more memory (256MB!) but my girlfriend said thats impossible for a game that is two years old…

The offical specs say you need 256MB , but I think it’s more likely to be the graphics card in your laptop that’s the problem, they are generally not as good as the ones in desktops.

[/quote]Hardware T&L is basically Geforce2 and above, but 32MB is a lot, especially for a laptop.
At least you hadn’t spent money on it to find you couldn’t play it.
I have a high spec pc but it can still run at low framerates-they are often updating the game and sometimes this will require higher spec systems. My new graphics card is a 128mb and it rus very smoothly now-the 64 mb was choppy. I like the game though,I’ve just ordered a copy.
Laptops are not really up to modern gaming to be honest.

Too right! My girlfriend studies computers and knows far more than me and she just keeps saying “it should work!”
Anyway, she just bought KOTOR and two other games for me instead and so, with the England result last night, I am now a happy bunny again.
And she says she’s gonna upgrade my desktop PC for me at the weekend.
So…
