Student ARC

I am here on a student visa (PhD) but have job offers for both part-time and full-time. I would like to work part-time while finishing my Doctorate but I read here somewhere that Student ARC doesn’t count toward APRC/citizenship.
1- Is this a universal thing or is it just because students tend to make less money? would it still be fine if I made more than double the minimum wage?
2- Is it too complicated to change ARC purpose from student to work? Do I need to apply for resident Visa again?

I seem to recall that doing a PhD counts at least partially towards an APRC. You should call immigration or do some research. Maybe someone will post the law, I didn’t find it with a cursory google.

Iirc and iiuc,

That may be Article 13 of New Economic Immigration Bill, which shall become effective in the near future. At this moment, years on student ARC are not counted yet.

Working time limit for student work permit is 20 he per week.

How to change your ARC is here. You need to apply for modification of your purpose.

How does a foreigner renew or apply for an ARC?
