Hey…

I was wondering if anyone can help. I have got some mixed information when I’ve asked my school about this.

I have been studying Mandarin for over a year now and already have my student ARC card. I know its illegal to work on the student ARC without a work permit.

Here’s the thing… How can I actually apply for the work permit? Do I have to find a part time job first then apply or can I apply for the work permit first then find my part time job.

I’m kinda confused.

I believe on the MoE website it says that you apply for the work permit directly from the EVTA, the application forms are available on their website.

EVTA forms for students seeking employment:

HOWEVER - it seems very strange to me because I thought employers always filed these forms, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you were supposed to find a job first and have them apply. Just call EVTA and ask, that’s your best bet. Or ask the international office at your school.
