Student Visa

Hi everyone,

My husband and I are looking to move to Taiwan for a few years from the US. We don’t want to work while we’re in Taiwan, but want to enroll our two kids in local private primary schools.

One option we’re thinking of is to apply for a student visa while taking Mandarin courses. I understand we’d have to be on student visas for a few months until we can qualify for an ARC. But the biggest issue is how to get our kids there. Does anyone know if we can apply for a dependent visa or anything while we’re on a student visa, and whether that will allow our children to attend local private schools? Thanks so much!

If you get a visitor visa for the purpose of study, you can bring your children as your dependants.

To enroll the kids in a regular school, basically they need to have ARCs, but to attend a school is negotiable if you show the school that your family will get ARCs later.
