An IT company asked me to be their temporary tanslator tommorow.
I will manage to get to Fulong on time, but I won’t be able to follow up the new development of this event tomorrow.
Who can I turn to for comfirm the time and whereabout of the event tomorrow?
I can PM my mobile number if it is necessary.

You can call me at 0935-560-995.

Looking to be a fine beach going day… :sunglasses:

See you all up there.

Great to see so many families up there today!

Let’s do it again!

It was a great day! Who’s got pics?

It was terrific, I got no pictures, though.

Fairly surreal yet fun day for me, as my keys were lost to Davey’s locker for a bit of time. A frantic search ensued, and then it was decided that the MJB clan would make the long return home for spare set of keys. Right after we hit Taipei a call was made informing us that the MJB mobile keys had been discovered. By taxi straight back to the beach from Taipei to enjoy dinner and a late night swim with Josax, Tigerman Jr, MJB Jr, and Lupillus.

Was great to see everyone there, and it is something that we should be doing A LOT MORE OFTEN.

Speak for yourselves…It was my 7th trip up there since April 2nd.

Thanks everybody, I had a great time.

A very nice time. I can’t wait to do it again!

Nice seeing you all.

Oi. What am I, chopped liver?

Yes, I nearly forgot…Mr. Mao was under the Coast Guard spotlight as well. They ordered us out of the water, but we dazzled them with complete (and rather sarcastic) bullshit which had the poor guy shaking his head as he walked away…I can only imagine what was going through the guy’s mind as we paraded victoriously back into the water.

Damn foreigners…Aiyo

We had a great time too. Nice talking with all of you and great swimming in the ocean. We’ll be back very soon.

Glad you got your keys back MJB and salvaged the day. Loretta, thanks for starting this thread and getting us all out there.

Sorry, I’ve got just a few pics and have a one track mind when it comes to photography. Here’s Emily enjoying the beach.

What a poppet, MT! No wonder you dote on her so!

That was one happy kid!

Glad you got your keys back MJB.

Not that I’m planning the next trip or nothin…but Bu Lai En mentioned something about camping in Pinglin… :uhhuh:

We had a great time too! Trudi likes her Uncle Tigerman! :rainbow:

Today, however, I read this in the Taipei Times:

:astonished: :astonished:

By the way she’s grabbing on to Tigger’a shirt, she doesn’t look too relaxed:

Trudi’s Inner Monoogue: Okay, who’s this guy? Oh no Dad, don’t hand me off again, you lazy git…aeiyo, this one smells like beer…very good beer, but beer still the same. Is he gonna drop me? I’d better hang on. Wow, look at his muscles. He must be a lawyer…DAAAAAAAAAAAAD!

And I was thinking of beginning a swimming ritual down her in Bitan. Fecking Taiwan!!! Stop giving those bloody yanks your tax money and clean the friggin’ place up a little, why doncha? No wonder no one ever comes to visit.

I went to the website www.epa.gov.tw/wqm

I couldn’t find the information in beaches. Can anyone find it and point it out?

(Btw it’s one of those stupid Taiwan sites that only opens in IE).

What’s the cause of the shit in the water at Fulong? Sewage treatment plant discharge pipe/s? Septic tanks? Duck farms?

Incidentally, fabled Malibu beach suffers from the same problem. Here’s from today’s NYT.
TO the naked eye, Surfrider Beach in Malibu, Calif., couldn’t be lovelier. . .

But Eric Gross, a 28-year-old creative director at his family’s graphic design studio who has been coming to Surfrider since childhood for its smooth, manicured wave, quickly shattered any postcard-quality impressions of this premier surfing beach.

Take the stench emanating from the nearby lagoon, where Malibu Creek meets the sea, he noted.

“You see discoloration and big brown blobs, like in a sewer,” Mr. Gross said of the days when the lagoon overflows and dumps untreated sewage on the waters he uses three to seven times a week. “Sometimes the water just stinks. You wash off in the shower and you’ve got this smell on you all day.”

Then there’s the taste. “Have you ever tasted bong water by accident?” he asked. “It’s just this muck.” . . .

“You get all your shots, you stay away certain times,” said Mr. Gross’s father, Paul, 60, another longtime surfer who comes out three to four times a week. He matter-of-factly detailed his post-surf regimen: “You take showers here and put hydrogen peroxide in your ears and gargle with hydrogen peroxide diluted with water.”

. . . a dramatic drop in quality in the Long Beach area meant that Los Angeles County retained its status as the state’s leading “beach bummer.” (Right before the Memorial Day weekend, about 5,000 gallons of sewage spilled into the waters off the Venice district of Los Angeles because of a blocked sewer line, prompting a two-day closure of several portions of two popular beaches.)

. . .“I try not to swallow the water,” said a 26-year-old accountant from Pasadena after taking a dip.

. . . But Jameel Chahal, 22, a friend in the accountant’s group who was visiting from Canada, looked around almost in disgust. The water was brown and two dead sea lions had washed up, hardly an enticement to dip in as much as toe

. . . Mr. Pendleton is co-author of a study, released last year, that said as many as 1.5 million cases of sickness in Los Angeles and Orange Counties each year could be attributed to bacterial pollution in the ocean.

. . . both development and people’s behavior — such as not cleaning up after their dogs — contributed to the problem. . .
Muzha Man had the water at Bitan tested last year by Ratbrain and Ratlung and it was found to be safe.
