Racing Through the Midnight City — Midnight Cowboy 2026 Taiwan Tour
Named after a film, guided by poetry — Midnight Cowboy is a creative collective with rock music as its body and free improvisation as its soul.
Formed in 2024 by Olivier Jiang Yitian, Benson Gu, and Travis Liang Mingjun, the members come from diverse backgrounds spanning film, visual art, and literature. The band’s name is taken from John Schlesinger’s film Midnight Cowboy, symbolizing the unrestrained spirit of “racing through the midnight city.”
In their creative process, Midnight Cowboy begins with the works of Hong Kong poet Yin Jiang, expanding through improvisation. They don’t align tastes deliberately or confine themselves to specific forms — instead, they let inspiration collide freely. Within just one year, they completed their debut album See You Down the Road and held their first show “Midnight Turbulence” in 2025, which sold out.
This July, Midnight Cowboy will tour Taiwan for the first time, bringing noise and poetry to Taipei, Taichung, and Tainan. For this journey, they’ve invited independent musician Stan Chan (陳思遠) as guest vocalist.
