Surf Films

I’d love to see this:

http://www.bunker77.com/

I just bought his biography. Anyone seen this?

Anyone seen Crystal Voyager, surf documentary with a Pink Floyd soundtrack?

Can’t find a DVD on sale online that will play in this region.

Is it as good as Point Break? That’s like the best surf movie ever made. That’s a true story. In fact it’s a documentary.

irishstu was IN Point Break.

Surfwise. It’s more about surfers than surfing, though. Really entertaining documentary.

I really liked a surfari one with two blokes, one of whom was called Wingnut.
Another is called Blue Crush. Its based on an Outside magazine article about North Shore girls and it has lady surfers in bikinis. :howyoudoin:

Dat one with Jessica Alba. As I remember, Maoman appreciates the work of this fine and talented actress very much.

I did see Crystal voyager (Australian surf movie?), but it suffered the same fate as the zillion times I tried to watch 2001 and some other movie the name of which I can’t even recall - I’d smoked so much pot before seeing them that they were a complete haze.

Here’s some of the tube scene within the movie to a Pink Floyd tune.

My favourite surf movie is Morning of the earth. Okay, it looks old now, and the music is awfully dated, but the theme is constant.

As a general rule of thumb, any appearance by Captain Goodvibes, the surfing pig, meant more smoke in the theatre and less memories.

The adults are talking here right now, go back outside and play with the lawn darts honey.

That Blue Crush was fuckin ass.
Only thing good about it was the stunt surfing and the cameo by Keala as herself.

Would have been better if she got 'em out, though.

And oh yeah, in case anyone’s wondering?
Michelle Rodriguez (no relation) sucks hippo dick.

Bitch couldn’t act her way out of a burrito wrapper.
And she ain’t hot, either, so fuck you.

Surfwise was a great movie, I saw it this summer and also downloaded it.

Thanks HGC for that clip! Marvelous. I bought Morning of The Earth in Bali a few years back, good one to watch after smoking ruffage.

Sandman you are thinking of Endless Summer II with Wingnut Weaver from Santa Cruz, Ca: my Uni town.

Zen and Zero is another fav. http://tw.youtube.com/watch?v=dexIqIRU2Os

Butt Cup- I never seem to remember the names of any of Ms. Alba’s movies. Does she were a bikini in it and show off her soft pouty lips.

Chasing the Lotus another surf doc. http://tw.youtube.com/watch?v=SDIoTn2Ny9U

And A Broke Down Melody with great footage of surfing in Jamaica.

Step into Liquid and of course Riding Giants both great movies.

Don’t forget one of The Chief’s favorites: Big Wednesday!

Keep 'em coming!

Did anyone mention this
http://tw.youtube.com/watch?v=s0Pw7vKtqpo?
Because, you know…fuck me…

Crikey! Exhausting the functional memory cells.

Surf culture more than surf, but Lords of Dogtown was like a strange window back to a young HG and me group of grommet mates. Ditto with Dogtown boys. The only cool part of being dragged off to look at houses with the fogies was spotting a drained pool in an empty pad.

A quick translation:

"Blue Crush was a dreadful movie. The only commendable part was a cameo appearance by Keala (a real life pro surfer) which would have been made better if she exposed her breasts.

Michelle Rodriquez-no relation to The Rodriquez Brothers Towing and Salvage-is also a terrible actress."

How can one tell if that’s a bad or good film? After all, one fast forwards to the surf sequences, doesn’t one? And those parts are fuckin’ ace. There’s one image that sticks with me in which the real surfer chick/model comes off the top of a wave and flies through the air and her body’s all shiny and taut and stretched out and elegant and… damn! Laopo! Where’s the Kleenex?

Yeah, it’s cool, I remember our 3rd Trimester…

Rise of the Silver Surfer

of perhaps Blue Crush

Maaaaaan! You like school on Monday at 12:05.

Good point. It’s not a surfing flick, but I know Jessica Alba earned a Razzie Award for worst actress in Into the Blue, but I thought she was outstanding in that movie. I can’t find the exact clip that comes to mind, but it was very close to this one, in which she swims past very slowly, very close to the camera, and her perfect butt just glides past through the water, inches from the lense, in amazing HD close-up clarity and. . .

Well, what more can one say. Some films shouldn’t be judged by traditional standards; they should just be appreciated for their extreme beauty.

Good point. It’s not a surfing flick,…[/quote]

Which, of course, makes it an excellent choice to post to this thread.

Oh, and what’s a “lense”??

It also shows her ASS. Which makes it especially appropriate to post here.

You’re kidding? Here are a few lenses.
