Sorry, Georgie, but a subpoena can’t be denied. You are obliged under the law to abide by it. The President is not above the law.

Bush uses privilege to deny ex-aides’ testimony

The whole point of nearly everything this administration does seems to be to show it IS above the law.

They are stretching the envelope just as far as it will go. They know that after the current backlash takes America back towards temporary sanity, there will be a counter-backlash wherein Republicans reap the eternal gullibility of Americans towards lines like “Isn’t it time we were PROUD to be American again?” and the whole thing will start over from where it leaves off in 2008.

And then it will be time for ‘Vietnam III’ (Vietnam II being the current adventure in Iraq) – where this time we FINALLY show 'em that American actually can, through sheer force of superior technology, successfully impose itself on third-world nations.
