You must be done with the doctor now…how did it go?
Bit of a waste of time unfortunately. By the time I saw the doctor it was already 5:50pm, so no more X-rays for the day. He prescribed a bunch of painkillers; I hope those will help me sleep tonight. I doubt I’ll bother with them during the day. I’ve got an appointment to go back on Thursday morning for an X-ray (Tuesday and Wednesday were options, but I’m busy), and then see the same doctor again next Monday.
He wasn’t willing to answer questions about recovery time until he’d seen an X-ray - fair enough. This also may be the first time I’ve seen a doctor here who didn’t really have the English skills to communicate with me, but that’s on me, not him.
Moral of the story: if you’re near the end of the queue for an afternoon (I was #47, with 50 scheduled), perhaps don’t bother - I’m going to need three trips to the hospital out of this, rather than one. Since it doesn’t feel all that serious - and the doctor obviously doesn’t believe it’s that urgent - I should have just scheduled an appointment earlier in the queue for a couple of days from now, ideally in the morning rather than the afternoon. Or opted for emergency instead.
He did ask about how much it hurts and when: normal breathing, not at all; deep breathing, a small touch of pain; coughing and sneezing and hiccuping, ouch.
My wife wants me to go again, this time to emergency, on Wednesday or Thursday morning in order to rush the process, but I’m only going to do that if tonight and tomorrow are significantly more painful than I expect.
