Swiss watch [ring] found in 400-year-old tomb

I seriously hope this isn’t a hoax, cos if it’s not, it’s pretty mad. … s.quirkies
The watch ring was discovered as archeologists were making a documentary with two journalists from Shangsi town.

“When we tried to remove the soil wrapped around the coffin, a piece of rock suddenly dropped off and hit the ground with a metallic sound,” said Jiang Yanyu, former curator of the Guangxi Autonomous Region Museum.

“We picked up the object, and found it was a ring. After removing the covering soil and examining it further, we were shocked to see it was a watch.”

The time was stopped at 10:06am, and on the back was engraved the word “Swiss”
Um… yeah. The word “Swiss” 400 years ago? A watch/clock indicating “am”…

I feel like Jimmy Hill.

Maybe the tomb is only 40 years old…they missed a decimal point in the calculation…

Or maybe a time traveler with a sense of humor tossed it in during the funeral service…

Those damn Swiss are into everything.
Not just the mountain passes, saynomore, saynomore…!

Maybe its 400 year old proof that the Chinese never invented anything, only copied it? This was a bad “Folex” design so they killed the guy?

This is an Out-of-place artifact. Wikipedia has an interesting list of OOPArts

Maybe the “archaeologists” had previously unearthed the coffin(s) to insert spectacular items so that their “discovery” would seem successful, especially since it was going to be done on camera. In the process they disturbed the strata, so that the buried modern relic ended up in the coffin layer, not realizing that it would give them away.

Chinese archaeology is not exactly that sophisticated. contaminated sites anyone?

This is proof of time travel! What more do you people need???
