Hey everyone.
Sorry if this has been asked and answered before.
I am looking for a new job for when my contract expires with my current school. Contract expires end of June, new one will start in Early- late August.
My questions are these. Is it possible to get a new ARC to take effect the day after the old one expires?
I am going home in early July, and just found out that i would have to pay a fine if I have an expired ARC and leave the country the day my ARC expires.
It would avoid a lot of hassle returning if I could get the ARC for my new job before I leave the country. Is this possible?
Also, how does this fine affect you returning to Taiwan?
I want to come back next year, but it is cheaper for me to pay the fine than to change the date on my ticket.
I have found lots of information on changing jobs in the middle of a contract, but nothing about changing jobs at the end.
It’s not just the fine but the record of overstaying you need to worry about. I strongly recommend that you avoid overstaying if you possibly can. Take it from me - I’ve overstayed twice.
Take a vacation at the end of your old contract don’t end it right away. If you are on good terms with the school they can not cancel the ARC right away.
Thanks for the info. I was misinformed and was told I had a week after my ARC expired to leave. Obviously this is wrong.
Will I have problems returning next year if I overstay by a few days?
I am going to have a job lined up, and hopefully most of the paperwork done. Like the work permit.
What about my other questions. Is it possible to get most of the paperwork for a new ARC done before I leave?
I don’t know how to go about doing this.
If my contract is expiring, do I still need to get a termination of employment from my school, or can I start this before my contract is done?
