This came up a few days ago, but forgot to post around here. The Swype beta is once again open for new registrations. If you have an Android device, I highly suggest checking this cool replacement keyboard out.
+1, installed it a couple days ago and can’t recall how I ever lived without it. At that time, it was not distributed through Android Market. You have to go to the swype website, give your email address, then download it from your phone via the email they send back to you.
I just hope, if it goes paid, they maintain the same distribution channel and don’t go to Android Market as that would shut us out.

I was using SlideIt, but it doesn’t come with the punctuation on the same keyboard screen so its slower. It also doesn’t put a space between the word ‘a’ and any word before it, which can be annoying. It seems like an older development.
