It’s not a bad idea to have these rental bike systems in cities, but where are these bikes going to be ridden? Taichung City has no sidewalks period. What there is already is barely wide enough for a few pedestrians. A lot of sidewalks are broken at random and don’t connect with anything. Riding on the road will be a perilous affair as TC is worlds different than Taipei in terms of traffic police efficiency. I’m all for it, but I can’t see how this will be a good thing unless the conditions to use the iBike and BRT (and eventually MRT) improve a lot.
