I’ve been lurking around these parts for a while, and its been very very informative.
I’m very interested in moving to Taichung in the Winter of next year. After spending 6 years in mainland China, I want to be surrounded by complex characters, and do some independent creative work.
Of course, I’m looking to support myself with English teaching work at the same time…
How long would it typically take to find some work in Taichung that would support me? Should I come with 3 months of living money saved up? 4 months? Less? I know that in mainland China, providing you have some decent experience and are professional, you could find some work in days/weeks after landing. Not sure what the market in Taiwan/Taichung is like.
Also, what is the typical course load like in Taiwan? Here its typically around 20 hours/week. Same in Taiwan? Any other input or thoughts? I know some people have recommended coming in the summer (for a better job market), but due to scheduling, thats just not possible.
Any advice/thoughts would be much appreciated!
