I’m going to spend the weekend after next, i.e. after Spring Scream, in Taichung. Where can I go there to see live bands or some sprinkling of the seemingly VERY alive Taichung music scene? 
And can anybody recommend good restaurants (foreign or local, doesn’t matter) and friendly bars? 
Taichung has lost it’s happening appeal over the past few years. There is a thread with reference to this.
Most foreign bands play at 89k on Chung-Ming S. Rd
Other foreign hangouts are Londoner, Fm, 2 Tigers, Chubby’s and La Bodega.
Good restaurants…well there’s kind of a few. Depends what you want, really.
Would suggest to pick up one of the local magazines such as Compass, The Voice etc. They give a good restaurant round up of where to go and who serves what.
