Not much being updated in this thread in a while, but here goes. Anyone know of a decent tailor in Taichung City? I’m a bit reluctant to go to a department store, but if that’s all there is I will have no choice.
In Taichung there are many good custom tailors. The place to go is San Min Rd. That’s the street in Taichung with all the photo studios. The place I went to is called EZ Collezioni. A good suit should run you about 12000NT a shirt and if it’s a 3-piece will cost more. It all depends on the material as well. The higher the thread count, wool, blends and polyester are available. The man at EZ spoke decent enough English that I could explain everything I wanted done. I have been back three times since and got well made suits and shirts.
Thanks very much. I will pay that shop a visit. You wouldn’t happen to be able to drop a pin on the location of the shop in google maps and post the link here? San Min is a long road.
I have a bunch made in Vietnam, they make them fast and for really cheap. Maybe not up to HK/London/Italian standards in craftsmanship but still well made and like 1/5 of the price. And honestly most people don’t have the eye to tell from a well made suit from a extremely well tailored one.
Why do I think you are going to prefer thinner legs and pointy shoes @Andrew0409 ?![]()
Lol, I’m trying to get some pointy ones commissioned here in Tuscany. Got me. I need some new ones.
In an alternative life , that seems so long ago , I use to go to Milan just to buy clothes . Just great style . My shoe choice seems to be Black brogues or Brown Brogues . I have never worn a pair of training shoes in Taiwan …oh God, I have become my Father ![]()
I do want something more like the first style these days. Most of my suits are as you described. To be fair I do have nice long legs and keep in good shape so it does look good to have them fitted like that. But it’s a little too slick and comes off like I’m in the yakuza or something. I’ve been going with more with lounge and double breasted suits. Maybe I’ll find something in London. I’m not there long but I believe they can send the finished suit via mail to me.
