Tainan Big Bike Rally- Sat Nov 3rd- 10,000 bikes expected!?!

In another thread there is a good amount of interest into turning this rally as an excuse for a mostly foreigner group ride to Tainan. I thought it would be a good idea to make a new thread with the rally in the title. So far there is MJB, Llary, and about 3 others that have shown interest…and myself if I can get a dog sitter…which I should be able to.

It’s a one day trip no hotels. Go there in the morning…hang out…head back.

We’re taking the costal raised expressway so the trip should be pretty short and safe (and boring), but it will be fun to see so many bikes on one road. Not to mention the rally.

So who is interested?

What are the start and end points?

count me in… i will also get a ferret sitter jejejeje… my brother maybe
in the other threat there is a post with some instructions to organize some ppl, so check it and comment here…
a resume is: 7am or so in taipei, then bali, then Hsinchu around 8:30am at the end of 68, the the 61 and then number 1… or something like that jeje…

I think we can meet at this point: maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&g … 04941&z=18

As you can see there is a parking lot there. It’s impossible to miss if you’re heading south along the ocean road. And it’s just outside Hsinchu. So it’s a point everyone north of there needs to pass by. Should be an awesome view even if we didn’t go further than that. If you’re heading from the north you could come down on the 3 then take the 68 expressway to the ocean…the 68 connects with the 61 just a few km north of that point. So after coming off the 68 you’d just turn south. The parking lot has flags up and whatnot. I’ll try to invite a good asian friend of mine who is a bit of a loner…hence he probably isn’t riding with a group already. Nicest guy ever…he rides a ZX10r. That’s all I can think of right now.

So we’d be meeting up just off the 61? I can handle that but I hate riding in Taipei city with a vengeance.

:s The meeting point with the flags is next to Hsinchu. Taipei doesn’t come into it.

hey guys, why dont we think about it and stay one night in Tainan, its going to be a long and slow trip since there will be so much traffic and bikes…
maybe if we can get a number of people someone could book a hotel for all of us !!!
or eve here in a store WRS in Hsinchu, i think they are charging 1000 for hotel and maybe some food to go in a bigger group of bikers, my idea would be to get the fee and ride by ourselves and there we join the again…
someone has any idea?..
PS:my wife will be tired for sure…

I like most foreigners am poor…oh so poor. I the gas alone is going to kill me. If I had to get a hotel too I’d probably just ride my bike into the side of the hotel killing myself. It would be more pleasant than trying to come up with the money.

For TAIPEI folks:
we can meet at Da Tung factory (big shitty green building near Beitou), Cheng De Rd sec 7, No 400, Saturday morning 07:00am (or…?)

We’ll be riding to Bali then expressway 61 to Xinzhu, then 61 and 1 to Taichung…
Xinzhu people can meet us at 08:30 (or…?) at the place Mordeth pinpointed.

If you are interested please fill in the list (name):
1- Sly
2-
3-
4-
5-

I’d love to go. Maybe I could paint my plate red…

Are you riding with Taiwanese people Sly? Because if not we probably need one or two so we don’t get too lost in Tainan. My riding group which is a pretty reserved bunch…is leaving Chung-Li at shortly after 8. We should be at that Ocean Look out point that I linked to above at about 9.

If we already have someone fluent (and can read write) then I don’t need to ride with them at all. I invited an asian friend of mine, but he’s busy that day.

The weather looks like it will be good. Chances of rain in the north…but as soon as Taichung…not even a chance of rain.

CRC (cruiser rider’s club) Taipei might join but it’s not sure yet. My gf will be with me anyway. She can speak/read chinese so no worries.

With or without your group up to you. I’m OK with anything!!

Excellent. I see you at 9 there

TAIPEI PEOPLE: JOIN ME!

Tainan rally link (sorry chiense only, u can use babelfish)
mototown.com.tw/MCN/mcn.php?m=post&p_id=129

and btw tonight (wed 31st), 09:09pm in front of city all to celebrate or national museum at 09:30pm.
We go to water park pick up some dudes from Taipei county. 2600 bikes. if interested…

So the 61 in Hsinchu at 9am on Saturday… is anyone else planning to ride up from Taichung? Can anyone who is definitely going PM me their cell number to make it easier for us to meet up?

Sounds like a plan, but aren’t you going in the wrong direction for a meet? Why not hook up with us somewhere further south so you don’t have to backtrack so far.

Also, your concept of meeting times…Obscure. We plan to meet up at 9am? You have to be there by 7am. Should be perfect. :bravo:

This is going to be pretty fun I think. Almost like an Ironbutt ride from back home.

well i will join you guys on the way to tainan for sure… i live in Hsinchu so, as its said before we could meet in nanliao, near the 61… then south
i am not sure if i will return the same day, maybe i will just stay there, mostly because of my wife… but still the ride from here to there will be one of the best parts !!!..
maybe i will pay the fee that WRS has of 1000Nts per person… i think that it includes besides the hotel some food… if someone is interested after the rest of the group goes back home, to stay and get into this group, let me know…
important issue: the time to meet !!!

guys I made a mistake in my previous post really sorry…I read wrong.

Saturday there are 2600 bike going to Tainan. Meeting time 09:09AM in front of Taipei city hall (and not tonight to celebrate)

I still prefer the 7am plan (actually 8am is enough, I dun think we need more than 1 hour to go to Xinchu by expressway)…
Anybody else joining me ?

well i checked the time table for all the activities, and the stunts will begin at 12:45… so it would be fun if we can make it by that time… any idea of at what time do we have to leave to get there for that?

usually I take 2.5 hours to Taichung with 1 break and never over 100Km/h (using the expressway though )…which means we can make it quicker :stuck_out_tongue:

We meet Xinchu peopz at 09:00

I dunno the road after taichung so no idea for that part…
anybody knows about taichung -> tainan ?

Cause what I gathered from the thread is that you guys were riding down to Taichung then going back… maybe all the city pollutants have just been messing with my brain.

I planned to make it a big weekend ride since my gf is away and her limit is about 5 hours. Maybe ride up to Taipei then back down with the furriner crew then pick up some buddies in Taichung for a run down to Kending… going to be a fun weekend.
