According the the Starbucks staff, it is okay to play chess but the cafe is packed almost every night.
I decided to move things to a nearby art studio called Minami Zephyr. They have a nice basement level with large tables. This place serves coffee, tea, juice, desserts, and a little beer.
Shi-Da Rd. Lane 68 No. 9. 師大路68巷9號。From Shi-Da Rd. go down Lane 68 away from the night market and turn right and it will be right in front of you.
The meeting time is Tuesday from 7 - 10 P.M.

I’d like to go, but tonight I can’t make it (7/12). They had a chess club over at the university but nobody responded to my emails (I’m a student there) so I think it has been forgotten.
How good are you? I mean, you’re not going to kick my ass, are you? 
We are also meeting Wednesday 7.13 at Alleycats in the Hua-Shan Art Center close to Zhong-Xiao Xingsheng MRT stop. If you can’t make it tonight, you can come out tomorrow.
Otherwise, you can come out next Tuesday.
I’m not that good. I lost to Karl in like 10 moves or so.

Sorry man but they keep jiggling me around at work and now I have to fill in for someone on a Tuesday night again. Looks like they’ve figured out that that’s an open spot for me, so Tuesdays may be a lost cause.
A queen for a night, you say? Does the bishop know about this?
We will probably meet next Tuesday again and Wednesday is a possibility.
Next week, it seems more people can make Tuesday and the location seems to be a little better.
But if you can make Wednesday for sure, I can try to organize a Wed. meeting also.

Is it the same location on both night?
No, Tuesday is at Shi-Da across from the night market, and Wednesdays are at Alleycats in the Hua Shan Art Center close to Zhongxiao Xinsheng MRT.

We’re meeting at Minami Zephyr Art Studio in Shi-Da Rd. at 7 P.M. on Tuesday again. If anyone wants to play or learn Shogi, we should have a couple more Shogi players this week.
What is Shogi?
I went to Minami on Sunday afternoon for a cup of coffee. The coffee wasn’t so special, but it’s an interesting place. Upstairs at one table they had a photography club. And downstairs there was some kind of basket weaving going on, art stuff, I’m not sure which, because I didn’t really look at it.
Looks like I can be there on Tuesday, but things always change in my schedule at the last minute.
We’re meeting at Minami Zephyr again this Tuesday at 7 P.M.
I have a couple of new games. Janggi, Korean Chess, and Do Shou Qi which is Chinese Animal Chess.
