Could any body give me his experiance driving down Taipei - Hualien on the highway (9), by car ?
I want to leave early in the morning from taipei (4am), how long shall I calculate , is it much more than 4 hours?
any nice hotel to recomment in Hualien?
is the ocean park to recoment for non chinese speakers (anything in english there?)

I have got the outlaws coming to visit this week :boo-hoo: so we’re planning a weekend down to Hualian/Taroko (sp?) this weekend.
Plan to leave Sat AM and return Sun PM.
Any suggestions regarding an itinary and especially a hotel recommendation would be much appreciated.
The drive from Taipei, leaving so early should be around 5 hours…give or take traffic and your diving habits.
Ocean park is fun, and you don’t need much English to get by in there. Just know where the seal/manatee shows start, as there will be few seats if you arrive just as they begin.
The rides are cool and good for kids. The food is terrible.
As for hotels, the better ones in Hualien city will set you back 2k+…it’s a resort town attitude. Can’t help much there.
