Most of what I would say now about this I already said nearly five years ago in two long posts – Tongyong Pinyin for Taiwanese location names – upon the occasion of the Taipei Times again displaying that someone there was misinformed in some substantial ways about Pinyin and Taiwan’s romanization situation.
