There are much bigger concerns about moving abroad than “Are there gonna be people there who can dance on my bell end?”
There may be other important considerations, but this should surely be towards the top of the list.

Buttercup, let’s put this another way: if a person were homosexual and asking where in Taiwan where they would find a bit of tolerance and a dating scene where they could comfortably meet other gays/lesbians, you’d consider that a reasonable question, yes? It’s the same with het guys coming to Taiwan. They want to know where they can go where the girls aren’t so xenophobic and racist against white guys (and black guys, who have it worse) that they won’t even get a second glance. Wanting a bit of a social life with the opposite (or same) sex isn’t necessarily sexist. It’s just human. Who wants to be lonely and forced to endure months of unnecessary celibacy?
Quentin, my reasonable, rational response got temped. Sorry.
Yeah, I’ve read a few threads here about that… It seems to me that Taipei girls would be generally less likely to “go psycho”, does that seem true?
You’d think, but psychotic stalkers are universal. Some of them even start out thinking: “I just want to have fun.”
I’d suggest you choose where to go based on other criteria, but then, my decision to come to Taiwan rather than return to Japan came down to “Chinese girls? Japanese girls?”
Japanese girls cant be that bad are they?
Well this guy certainly has his priorities straight. Hes going to the right place (so long as he likes Taiwanese girls, and honestly who doesnt?). He will most likely run into trouble straight outa the airport
and never look back.
Why do i keep humming “another one bites the dust” though?
to start with.

I’d include Topol on that list. For no reason at all.
Wow, I didn’t expect this much of a response to my question… I guess people are always happy to discuss the phenomenon of foreign guys and Taiwanese girls. (whether they are happy about the phenomenon seems a bit less universal…)
Anyway, I personally really appreciate the wide range of responses here. For me, packing up and moving to a new country is a big deal, so I’m eager for information about all the aspects of my potential new life.
It’s 4am where I am, so I’m going to call it a night… but I look forward to becoming a more active member of Forumosa in the future. Someday I might even have advice to give, instead of just asking for it!
Actually, it’s totally the opposite.
Japanese girls cant be that bad are they?
Not at all. But I spent a couple months in a north village, which wasn’t exactly the happy hunting ground. A year later I showed up in Taichung and discovered that many of the most beautiful Japanese ladies had gone overseas to teach. ![]()
to start with.
DUH ! but im guessing you knew what i meant ![]()
edit: Of course my “who” meant heterosexual men from say Europe and the Americas especially , who already have a penchant for things asian (or at least female asians) to be contemplating transposing themselves over water by cramped jetairliner. The ones that are not likely to like Asian ladies are not usually the ones transposing themselves without a company transfer.
Sometimes it seems one needs to get ones lawyer to approve anything written here beforehand

Yeah yeah, I knew you meant creepy Asian fetish sex tourist foreigners.
This is an important topic. See what can happen if one is ill informed or ill prepared.
Trip to meet internet bride ends in kidnap: An Australian sheep farmer who sought love over the internet was instead kidnapped and held hostage for 12 days after his African “bride” turned out to be machete-wielding gangsters

What an idiot.
OK, Me still thinks that our young guy will find the dating environment here OK. If you have a sense of adventure and you aren’t afraid of making yourself look like a fool, you can get at least something in most places.
I’ve to say that the OP’s vocabulary and thoughts denote a certain intelligence. The issue now is what is he gonna be satisfied with?
Personally i found more than i ever imagined in the person of a southern girl. I did not meet her in Taiwan but i came to live there, and can only agree with the stereotype “Northern=open-minded, easier, shallower / Southern=conservative, harder to get, more values”.
Question is, what are you here for?

Question is, what are you here for?
The same as 90% of the foreigners who come to Taiwan.
Money.
Anyone who comes here for the sex is out of their mind.
And anyone who comes for the culture (I’m sure there’s some if you poke around hard enough) is an absolute loon.
doubloon post

What, there’s money on this island? Can I have some?
Back to the question…you can always live somewhere close to a big city and get a little bit of both. Any city like Taoyuan, Chongli, Hsinchu, etc has bars, a couple of clubs, and tons of beautiful Taiwanese women that are interested in dating foreigners. I consider some areas in these cities the country, but you are only an hour from Taipei by train. Hsinchu is more like 2 hours. I have dated both, “Taipei girls”, and “country girls.” I find Taipei girls to be a little more educated with foreigner culture, but to be honest I would date a country girl any day of the week before a money hungry Taipei girl. So go for the best of both worlds, just live close to a big city. And it doesn’t matter where you live, because girls are still going to be crazy. God they are crazy.
sounds like rk1951 has his hands full
