Yeah, really. Lots of activity now at night. With the heat during the day I can see why.
Amazing luck!. Also enjoy the hotspring, if they let you. That place is super cool! They blocked it last time I was there, had cameras and security kicking people out. Hopefully now it’s open!
The hot springs are open, but with this heat, they’re not high on our list. I guess watching the sunrise is also from there. Maybe on our next visit during cooler months.
Not all the pools are hot. If ou haven’t been, it’s still a must. My way about it is: dinner, drinks, hotsprig (I usually hang out in the cold pools family likes to torture themselves…but have iron skin without the burn of sun haha). More drinks at hotspring. Back to bnb, shower, best sleep ever.
It’s really worth it. It’s not as amazing as before, closes early now. But it’s rock solid cool and relaxing! Absolutely a night time vibe.
Edit. By the open ones, I mean the ones in the old coral beaches near the water. You cna hop the fence and walk there without paying for the actual pool areas. If I remember right, this is one of only 3 in the world like it. Can just walk down the beach (for free) and see them (they made them concrete, big round circles just below the pool operation). Can cook eggs there too…if that’s your Thang. But it’s fun to see the natural hot spring from the coral right at the coral ocean front.
The pools are still worth it, even if that’s closed (bad weather they whistle at you)
We ran out of time, but that cold pool idea sounds good. Got in some great snorkeling and scuba diving. And the food on Green Island is excellent. They are hurting with low numbers, though.
For scuba diving, they have this thing where a coach takes you down. No certificate needed. They coach swims behind the person and grabs him or her in the area of the tank. The person is basically vertical, feet dangling down with no fins. It’s really a funny sight to see. Reminds me of a ventriloquist and his dummy.

So we decided to take the ferry and spend the night on Green Island.
Hot as hell, but got some respite after sunset when it started pouring rain when we were in the beach side hot spring.
Visited the white terror museum and it’s like seeing the Vietnam war memorial. Ugh.

Try the beef noodles on Lanyu and you might do one better. 
That was what they were called. It’s their gimmick. It was good.
The beef noodle soup looks bad! The ocean pics look great. I have trouble finding a place to stay with a sea view. Any recommendations?
How was the boat ride?
Not really. When I was here last year for the 10k run I stayed close to the port. So sea view yeah but also dirty port. This time we booked a cheaper room off the main drag but minutes from 7-11. No tv but after the hot day and hot spring we’re pooped.
The reason we came out was because we noticed zero white caps for three days straight and figured it wouldn’t last.
It’s a good time to visit the National Human Rights Museum’s Green Island exhibition, as their typically engaging biennial is now on until September 21. I spotted this poster in Taipei in the East District:

I hate reporting like this, based on a press conference only, and adding unnecessary factual errors as icing on the cake. I’ll let savvy forumosans identify the errors. It won’t stop me from going to see the exhibit, though. The artists didn’t write this trash!

While the outdoor park is impressive, the prison and the artworks, save the three paintings I put up, is well, meh. The prison cells have been refitted:
There were ten guys to a room, and the art is cardboard cutouts of the same guy — Bo Yang maybe.
Other were so cheesy I didn’t take a picture of them. But this one sign caught my eye, the Marx quote is particular— the room itself was like kids art work strung with string .
If you only come here for this exhibit it’s on you.
