Taiwan Born, Became U.S. Citizen... Taiwan Citizenship?

Hello Everyone,

I’m a new member and it’s my first time posting! I have some questions regarding dual citizenship and would really appreciate some guidance!

They are the following… hope it’s not too overwhelming!

Here we gooo…

I was born in Taiwan and moved to the U.S. when I was four (1989). About 5 years ago, I became a U.S. citizen. I am now interested in the future to go back to Taiwan to live possibly permanently. My question(s) are: 1.) Am I still a Taiwan citizen even though I became a U.S. citizen? If not, how can I become a dual citizen in my situation? 2.) How do I get a Taiwan ID if I do not have my Taiwanese birth certificate? 3.) Does anyone know where I can download a Taiwanese passport application in English?

I am happy to be in this forum and thanks so much for any insights or guidance!!!

Best and Cheers!

You are stil an ROC Citizen and your ID card number is listed on your family Hukou.

You can return to Taiwan at anytime and resume living here on your Taiwan passport. To renew your Taiwan passport go to a TECO office in the USA.
