I’ve seen BJ English; I’m sure the boss must have done that deliberately because he knew 99.9% of Taiwanese parents wouldn’t recognise the abbreviation.
Sadly, I can’t locate Wooden Pecker buxiban on Google. Anyone know where it is?
PRIME MATE seems to have disappeared. I saw that a lot a few years ago; someone must have told them it was dumb.
I thought xiao ding dang was doraemon?
Or maybe the boss’ name is just Brian Jones.
Also to be fair, a major US store is called BJ’s (215 stores at Costco size)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BJ’s_Wholesale_Club
And in BJ is also used as name for Beijing, I think in Taiwan BJ, has more of bad meaning than other places and I feel this is bit kid like silly about the term BJ.
I don’t know about in Taiwan, but where I’m from (California) BJ is the most common slang for fellatio. It’s admittedly immature, but hard to keep my mind from making the connection. In a similar vein, the Taiwan translation of Bridget Jones’s Diary is “BJ單身日記.”
It’s next to the 7-11
I’ve always been a big fan of the wheelchair brand, Karma.
Goodness , that is harsh !
That’s awesome. Sadly, they appear to be Australian, and their name appears not to have had a negative impact on their global reach.
Every time I see the name of this famous women’s underwear brand, some choice words run through my mind.
Close enough…
On tap at Brass Monkey. Long Dong American Lager.
Edit: This is a good brew from a good brewery. But with with four girl cousins joining me in Brass Monkey for an afternoon drink, we did have a good laugh at the name.
I’ve always assumed that “Long Dong Lager” is a couple of native speakers having a laugh - amusing, yeah, but not quite the same “Oops, that’s probably not what you wanted to say” type of branding you see elsewhere.
Nope, Taiwanese. You can read their inspirational story right here - https://www.karmamedical.com/brand-story-4/
There’s a BJs near my house.
That company logo
BARF is actually an American company and product…
