Taiwan brand-name failures

Seriously? Is it run by Taiwanese people?

I realise ‘raw barf’ might be appealing to dogs (if they could read it) but I can’t understand why a human being would think it makes a good product name.

EDIT: just googled it. Does not compute.

DICK knives.
Seen their distributor in Taiwan but I believe it’s German.

The worst one is the oven maker which uses Hitler as it’s logo and calls itself Hitler.

It’s like a mushroom, isn’t it. A short mushroom.

nooo … that can’t possibly be real. Links? Sure you’re not getting confused with Haier (Chinese company)?

Nope it’s real. I’m trying to dig it up, I’ve seen their factories dotted about.

Damn.

If you can find that one, I reckon it deserves a ‘thread solved’ vote.

It starts with 希特…Something…Looking for it…

1999, eh? Taiwan sure was different in those days.

It does. It does that.

Muppets. I wonder if that guy still works for the company?

“Declare war on the cold front” is quite memorable.

I know that one , although it’s not the one In referring to.

Ovens would be sicker.

Sick indeed, but you can’t deny the built-in brand recognition. This is probably what the ad execs were thinking when they were spitballing.

There’s a “Falin Hair” (hair forest) hair salon in our neighborhood.

Found it. Took some digging.
Also wins award for worst ‘English’ brand name.

Perhaps I imagined it , I thought he used to have a little Hitler moustache, , maybe from a distance …

But then the Chinese name…

喜特麗 (Sounds very similar to 希特勒 to me, or maybe it’s just my crap Chinese )

Yeah, I must say I wouldn’t recognise the logo as Hitler, but the name is pretty good.

I wonder if they realise it’s more accurately pronounced “shitler”.

Certainly ‘Shittily’ could present challenges to English speakers ears :).

To be fair I will give them the benefit of the doubt and say they weren’t aiming for a Hitler lookalike unless I find a logo with a moustache.

Definitely doesn’t look like a hat Hitler would wear. Maybe Eva Braun.
