Taiwan Cosplay Girl Sentenced to Jail (for indecent exposure)

This girl exposed herself in public while taking cosplay pictures last year and was in the news. I think it was discussed in Forumosa but I didn’t find it.

Verdict is 3 months in jail and a fine.

TIL that Taiwan has a law called the Act on Offenses Against Sexual Morality. Sounds like a remnant from times past on the mainland.

Pics or it didn’t happen?

I can’t see anything.

She’s innocent.

Three months in jail? For being a bit kinky in public? I’m sure many innocent bystanders were traumatized for life by seeing a cute cosplayer reenact the leg crossing scene from ‘Basic Instinct’. Meanwhile, drunk drivers get a slap on the wrist… wtf is wrong with this place.

I’m sure it’s commutable to a fine.

There is this one judge here, (I cannot link to it right now as I got sick again) who has his own webpage. He goes on about saving young people from falling off a cliff into moral depravity erc.
He is a judge in New Taipei city Juvenile courts.
There are some serious dinosaur judges here.
There is a public morality law here too.

:nsfw: Don’t look if you’re easily offended.

What I don’t get (and I’m not purposefully being vulgar here) is the pixelation in Japanese and Taiwanese pornography. It’s a big no-no to see genitalia, but it’s okay so see arseholes and women’s faces squirted with cum. I’m trying my best not to be vile, but this double standard is mystifying. Who decides what is morally acceptable and what is verboten?

Google’s your friend.

If it’s 30 minutes or 10km then I consider that commutable.

Yeah. I read that years ago. So what? Why are certain things okay and others aren’t? I fail to see the distinction.

Well cos it’s the law. Rarely complete and logical, but law nonetheless.

It’s based on Article 175 of the Criminal Code of Japan and how the Japanese courts interpret that.

Different producers, usually acting on the guidance of industry associations that follow developments in the law, might adjust what they decide to censor or not censor based on their risk tolerance.

It’s like banging your head against a wall here sometimes. :wall:

Would you have said the same thing if it was a guy that took off his underwear and posed in a public area? I for one don’t care but most people do. Many countries, including most of the west, have indecent exposure laws.

What kind of explanation could you possibly have been expecting? lol

Fine + one night in jail + community service. 3 months is nuts.
