Taiwan DPP and USA Republican party are home of working classes and not elite class of others

Now both in power need use this good partnership, seems Democrats like Taipei major and kmt. DPP seems more like republicans in base is more working class vs. Democrats have more elitist people.

I don’t agree. The VP of Taiwan seems to be your typical Democrat bootlicker!

She pretty much was during her time in U.S.
DPP will probably scramble to get someone to buy.

GOP is more working class? Nah it’s more rural, not the same thing.

It’s getting there.

“It should come as no great surprise that a Democratic Party which has abandoned working class people would find that the working class has abandoned them,” Sanders wrote. “While the Democratic leadership defends the status quo, the American people are angry and want change. And they’re right.”

Taiwan needs strong relationship with whoever is in power. American domestic politics shouldn’t matter.

Yeah it’s impossible to expect your favored party (if there is one) is always going to prevail in a democratic country.

On a recent flight out of Austin I sat next to a young woman who works as a community organizer for Democrats in Oklahoma City. She was very gracious and I kept quiet about my own positions. Mostly we talked about Oklahoma, and then Texas history.

Of course we did end up talking about politics and when I opined that possibly the biggest mistake the Democrat party had made this century was to abandon the working class, she disagreed. Politely, yet vehemently.

Definitely a blind spot. Wonder what she thinks today.

It’s easier since Covid as the opinion of China has become mostly negative across political lines. And opinion of Taiwan has become more positive or at least aware

Yup. Everyone knows Taiwan is the only bipartisan issue now.

That seems it was like in in old times like ten or more years ago from news and some posts here. Seems republican has more working class like DPP and democrats seem more elitist like the kmt old elites.

I guess the same, they choose people who do not know what locals think. Inflation is big issue, today went to noodle pasta, price went up $30 which is like 20% and was the topic of discussion. They lost on everyday issues people think of.

I think that our Democrat leaders were content to consider inflation a temporary issue, one that would spike then subside.

One reason that having leaders with business experience is preferable is that such folks have wrestled with the prices of their own goods, especially when/how to raise unit prices. In the US retail prices were mostly flat or only slightly up for more than a decade. Then Democrats decided to release trillions of USD in new domestic spending, ostensibly as a response to their Covid lockdowns.

What they didn’t realize, however, is that many, many companies had been searching for a way(s) to finally raise their own retail prices. The Democrats handed them the excuse they’d spent a decade or more looking for, and whoosh. Hello inflation.

Had Democrats with more experience as business owners been in charge, inflation in the US may not have risen so far.

Anyway, political leaders with solid backgrounds in private business are very important, imo.

You also don’t want. policy toward Taiwan changing whenever there’s a change in power.

That would be ideal, but what can Taiwan do about that? It’s a short list of nations it can rely on for material help.

What would be ideal?

Not to have “policy toward Taiwan changing whenever there’s a change in power.”

This is 100% true in here in Kao City. Once one shop(s) increase the price others follow quickly and often more more. One bakery here, price went up since they said the wheat from Japan costs more they said, then other use cheaper non Japan wheat raise the price even more like $10 more for a small pastry.

Now it’s the main topic, what went up in price and how come so much.

meanwhile in USA, its the same, this news reporter says inflation was big

Democarts used to act like him , but not now and lost touch

It’s possible with bipartisanship.

Sure, it’s always been that way actually.
