Taiwan insurance scams

Hi there, we currently live overseas but my wife’s family have just received an offical “looking” letter saying that my wife hasn’t paid insurance for x years and if she doesn’t pay immediately they will sell her family house

This sounds fishy so I was wondering how best to find out if this is legit or a scam?

Has anyone heard anything like this before?

Thanks
Chris
PS forgot my old password. Used to be a regular here many moons ago

pay a visit to police station?

We aren’t in Taiwan. We will get copies of the paperwork tomorrow and review. Have also contacted Taiwan Govt departments for further info

I meant your wife’s family visit a police station with the letter.

Ah yes that’s a good idea, sorry

Get a record of the police visit on paper as well. So you have something in court.

Also you would normally contact the insurance company you deal with through their official (website) contact info (not the email you got). Ask them. Thats always the easiest way to dispell the worry. Normally that kind of wording thiugh screams obvious scam

But ya, insurance is often always a scam, even the legal companies…
