Taiwan mortgage with Chinese income

Scenario:

Taiwanese married to a foreigner, but foreigner works in Mainland China and commutes between Taipei and Mainland China most weekends. The couple want to buy an apartment in New Taipei with a 20% down payment mortgage, but want to use the foreigner’s Mainland China salary as proof of being able to pay the mortgage. Preferably the apartment would be in the name of the Taiwanese. The parents of the Taiwanese partner would be able to be co-signers and they own a 10 million NT apartment so would appear trustworthy.

The Taiwanese partner is currently not working, so she wouldn’t be able to use her salary to get a mortgage.

Obviously the question here is whether a bank would give a mortgage to a Taiwanese/foreigner couple using a salary earned by the foreigner in a different country. What do you think?

Was in a similar situation a couple of years ago. The only bank that was remotely interested to deal with that was Bank of Taiwan through a personal connection. All other banks didn’t want to bother (I think we contacted 7 different ones).

Banks might be more desperate now to lend and get a return, so YMMV.

What a bad scenario! at least both names there

This doesn’t sound good , basically handing over an apartment.
