When someone goes to teach in China do you ask them if the oppression of the rights of hundreds of millions bothers them?
Do you ask them if the conquest of Tibet bothers them?
When someone goes to work in the USA do you ask them if the murder of thousands of civilians by drone attacks every year bothers them?
If someone were to go teach in Moscow would you ask them if human trafficking and rampant instituionalized racism bothered them?
…
I’m not saying it’s an invalid question, I just wonder why Thailand always gets particularly picked-on for this type of thing…
This thread is a bit old, but it’s probably worth mentioning that Thailand has changed it’s visa policies. There is a limit to how much time one can spend in Thailand on a tourist visa during a certain period of time. So, the whole working-in-Thailand-on-a-tourist-visa “benefit” of working in Thailand is pretty much out.
