Taiwan Politics needs another moderator

Cranky Laowai and Feiren are both great moderators, but they don’t have the time to deal with the volume of thread-jacking, troll-posts and stupidity that surfaces in TP. Is there anyone with the time, patience and even-handedness that would like to give it a go? If you’d like to join the Forumosa Moderating Team, drop me a PM.

About our Moderators

All of the moderators at Forumosa are volunteers. They provide their time and their good judgment to this website free of charge, and the administrators of this website are grateful for their help.

Moderators have the following duties:[ul][li]They answer questions from, and provide guidance to other Forumosans. [/li]
[li]They move, lock, or flounder discussion threads for various reasons. [/li]
[li]They delete or flounder disruptive and offensive posts. [/li]
[li]They alert administrators to any issues they need to know about. [/li][/ul]When moderators are performing these duties, they are acting on behalf of Forumosa.com. Their judgment should be respected. They are human, and they occasionally make mistakes, but in most cases, they do the right thing. Moderators are allowed to participate in the discussions, just like other visitors to our board. When they do so, they are speaking for themselves only. They do not represent any official position or policy of Forumosa.com.

However, when moderators participate in discussions that are unrelated to their official duties, they are expected to do so in a manner that respects differing points of view, and promotes community-building rather than division. Even when they are not performing their official moderator duties, moderators are required to hold themselves to a higher standard than other members of this discussion board. With this in mind, moderators are expected to observe the following guidelines:[ul][li]They are expected to behave themselves at all times in a way that reflects positively on Forumosa.com, and complies with all the Rules and Regulations of this website. [/li]
[li]They are expected to share and help promote Forumosa.com’s mission of community-building and service to the community. [/li]
[li]They may not engage in personal attacks against other members of this board. [/li]
[li]It is not appropriate for moderators to threaten to ban someone with whom they do not agree. [/li]
[li]They are expected to be fair and evenhanded at all times, especially to those with whom they disagree. [/li]
[li]They are forbidden from discussing moderator business anywhere except in the moderators-only discussion forum. If it becomes apparent that a moderator has broken this rule, he/she will be relieved of moderator duties immediately, and may be banned from the discussion board as well.[/li][/ul]If you feel a moderator has acted inappropriately, please contact a site administrator (Maoman or Goose Egg). The site administrators will decide what response is appropriate, if any.

Moderators have access to a private moderators-only discussion forum, where they discuss issues relevant to this discussion board.

Not that I have any problems at all with the current mods :bravo: , I recommend either Jive Turkey or Omni. I think they would be fair TP mods.

I propose bob.
The major problem - one of the major problems, for there are several - one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.
To summarize: it is a well known fact, that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it. To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job. To summarize the summary of the summary: people are a problem.
And so this is the situation we find: a succession of Galactic Presidents who so much enjoy the fun and palaver of being in power that they very rarely notice that they’re not.
And somewhere in the shadows behind them - who?
Who can possibly rule if no one who wants to do it can be allowed to?
I would like to submit, completely without his knowledge and with no previous discussion of this matter,
the right honorable Comrade Stalin.
His knowledge of the politics and history of Taiwan is without equal.
His impartiality and even-handedness in decision making is Solomon-like.
And he is absent just enough to not cause a lot of trouble.

Comrade Stalin…here! here!

Hey, uh, guys? Gingerman and Toasty have uh, already been chosen.

…uh
…oh.

Well…keep my recomendation of the Comrade on hand should anything…uhh…happen to either of them…
not that I’m suggesting anything…

I hope they keep it “status quo”  I’ve found that TP has been quite a good read for the most part. Got some quacks in there but all in all, quite lively

And congratulations to the new mods, you’ve joined rarefied company :bravo:

Well, toasty left as moderator of that forum, since it seemed that he’s more into dating and pets.
