I just saw this today from the Bali side and it really is pretty impressive. The two sides of the bridge are almost meeting up in the middle, apparently it will be open for traffic early next year.

Besides vehicular traffic connecting the two north coast highways, there will also be an extension of the Danhai LRT linking Danshui to Bali as well as pedestrian footpath. It will be pretty awesome jogging across at sunset!

I live next to this site. It is huge and non stop. 7 days a week, 8 am until 9 pm, sometimes 10. For the last year they’ve been digging up from the foundation as they built up from ground level. The structures you see in the video went up quite quickly and now they’re working downwards. It’s always noisy. I’ve lived in my building for 15 years now and certainly miss when it was transformed from an old elementary school to an an area with basketball courts, a running track and a playground for kids.

(August 29th), the city government signed a contract with the Weiwuying Joint Development Company, a joint venture between Dali, Huayoulian, and Haiyue. The company will invest NT$25.3 billion (including a NT$36.2 billion buyback option) to build five 38- to 52-story complex buildings, including a hotel, offices, residences, shops, and community facilities. The residential area will cover approximately 73,000 ping (approximately 16,000 square meters), while the commercial, office, and hotel area will span over 8,000 ping (approximately 16,000 square meters). Construction is expected to be completed in phases between 2033 and 2036.
