Taiwan’s Identity: Time to Drop Mandarin?

Modern Chinese technically is a creole of a creole of a creole. Old Chinese was a creole of Trans-Himalayan, Indo-european, and Kra-Dai. Middle Chinese had a lot of vocab and phonology changes that were influenced by para-Mongolic, Turkic and other languages. Modern Chinese is a creole of Mongolian and Middle Chinese, Mongolian, and Tungusic.
