I can’t find any info on the wattage of the Japanese type seats. Does anyone know what sort of juice these things use? If you buy one of those, all you seem to need to do is connect to your supply line into the toilet and power it up.

It used to be an open ditch sewer until early 2000 in some places.

660 Watts, 100V 50-60Hz for this one

Those of you that had poop fountains. By chance were these in taller building with water connection in higher floors? That seems more likely than air pressure from typhoons. Although typhoons are wonderful excuses for any number of issues, including shitty engineering and crppy plumbing.

Generally they are caused by blocked and full tanks with pressure coming from above. Apartments/highrises seem most common to have this, but rowhousing can too. Anything with pressure coming from higher up will push it down. if the outflow is blocked, your toilet just became the new outflow. i cant imagine how terrible that muct be, especially it being other peoples!

As per above, some people seem to have had issues. @urodacus

I have had it as well, but luckily it was drain pipes, not sewage. Same issue, bottom gets blocked, so the next lowest opening becomes the new outlet. Gravity at its finest 🙂

Sure. If you go to some of the more rural areas you’ll see pipes leading from the back of houses directly down to a river. Then you go downstream and see people out wading in the streams. 🙂

Aka, most of taiwan outside city centers. It is improving lots though. But still most land areas go to the ditch.

Why do people always count North America to the developed countries? You guys never seen German Waste Water Treatment. That is first world. The rest I saw in the Americas or Asia was between second and third world sadly.

Simple. Arrogance. Also ifnorance probably.

Loads of people do this. We are normally way shittier than we give ourselves credit for.

I made a quick podcast about Tamsui river sewage issues over history.
Just gave LM Notebook a couple source articles I could find and let it go wild making an AI podcast.

Well, danshui river used to smell horrible, like trash and sewage smell. Around 2010s it massively improved.

There were some houses built over the river right before the mrt station, on stilts. It looked shanty. It’s all gone now.

Indeed, many waterways (rivers to ditches and everything in between) have improved in spots. Down south, kaohsiung s love river people go for dates now. I doubt anyone would dare touch the water still, but it’s improved night and day. But to be honest, he sewage connectivity isn’t my biggest worry. Although it has improved the most probably in terms of issues with our lower river areas.
