I went to the Taiwan SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) dinner tonight. I was quite impressed with the professional manner in which the event was carried out - despite the fact that they have only been up and running for a relatively short period. I especially liked the award ceremony part as it is, of course, cool to see people who are dedicated to fostering animals, etc.
So I just thought I’d post this here to encourage others to check out their website and perhaps consider signing up as members. It goes without saying that Taiwan needs more groups like this. I personally know one of the SPCA committee members and strongly feel that this is a charity that can be trusted. I think they’re pretty much (wisely) focused on garnering support from the Taiwanese population, but us foreigners might as well support them during the times we aren’t causing havoc on the MRT or being busted for drugs. I’ve volunteered to help them out with a bit of writing come my summer break (as we all know how spectacularly eloquent I can be).
I’ll be sure to take some of you forumosans with me to next year’s dinner as your ticket covers unlimited cocktails and wine.
I really didn’t want to drink so much - but I did it for the animals, one drink at a time. I may get an award next year. :bravo:
