Taiwan Stimulus Vouchers and Relief Packages Discussion

you don’t get what I mean too.

If that kind of discriminatory regulations are not universal, why numbers of visa free countries are not almost the same for citizens from all the countries. No western countries exempt visa for Afghanistan passport holders.

really? ok let see…

Me and my colleague work next to each other, same job, same responsibilities. He’s a citizen, I’m not. But I’m a legal resident.
we pay the same tax.

he gets handouts, coupons, discounts. I don’t. so equal?
he can get loans based on his work, I can’t. so equal?
he gets pension contributions, I don’t. so equal?

Legal leveling, then try again later before comparing apples and oranges.

The law has stated it blankly. Do not apply Western notions to Asian systems.

can we apply western weapons to asian systems to defend them though, when they shit their pants ?

Sure

haha. well as US has proven now, its not gonna happen. Taiwan can defend itself with it “traditional chinese” bows and arrows when China attacks.

Not sure which law you mean, but for example, when it comes to citizenship of people born in a country, many countries in the world do not follow US laws in that regard. And just because a country does not follow US laws, it’s not automatically a racist country…

See Mapping the world's countries that grant birthright citizenship for example:

My definition was probably too simplified to be useful.

Nationalism can also include a feeling of superiority compared to other countries - and can also include racism against people of other nations and origin.

The definition given by the Oxford dictionary:

identification with one’s own nation and support for its interests, especially to the exclusion or detriment of the interests of other nations.

or

a feeling of loving your country very much and being very proud of it; a feeling that your country is better than any other

The Nazism (or National Socialism) goes much beyond that and can be seen as a very extreme form of nationalism combined with many other cruel and unhuman ideologies…

For businesses with a tax number, issuing receipts, can get up to 40K NT$, depending on how much you made in 2019 during May-June period I was told. I think it’s like 50% of what you made.

The result yes. But the underlying belief system was very simple.

In every thread there is always either a foreigner willing to believe that Taiwan can do no wrong and has nothing to improve on or a Taiwanese lurker that doesn’t want foreigners to have any advantage. Likely these types are likely dual citizens of Taiwan and the states.

You know, when even citizens aren’t even getting a piece of the pie, what more can foreigners ask for?

Don’t forget the foreigner that thinks Taiwan can do no right

I’d personally like to live with genuine rights one day. I’d really like to be able to go into a bank without the teller shutting down and disallowing everything but a simple account. I’d like to get a mortgage and buy a house and build my own equity instead of being exploited to serve Taiwan’s upper class. I will be 65 one day. If I don’t take care of myself, who will?
