They can rename the road to the cemetery Truman.
Not to go full Ex Prez. Chen, but it would be nice to have less China based names for roads and streets. And not have the same steet names for every city and town, only to have the population expand and have said towns merge, leaving the 2 same names and needing a renaming anyway
Ever noticed some streets are named with the places they connect? So 新烏 Road is a road that connects 新店 to 烏來, and 木新 Road connects 木柵 to 新店. And then there’s 南深 Road that goes from 南港 to 深坑, but the same road becomes 深南 after you get over the peak and descend down to 深坑. Guess the government wanted to be fair and keep the locals happy.
I think it’s widely known that street names in Taipei bear the names of cities in China, and the location of the streets translates roughly to the location on a China map. But why not show the following images, to show the locations of lesser known places.
Xizang (Tibet) Rd. is in Banqiao, right? Any other China place names in New Taipei City?
There is a Xizang Road in Wanhua. Not sure about Banqiao.
Oh, OK, I probably remembered wrongly. So it’s all within Taipei City limits, then.
Oh, there are many road names outside Taipei City with China place names, actually a whole lot!
It’s very handy if you get lost in Wanhua and have a very good mind map of China. ![]()
Kaohsiung has a Tibet street ![]()
