Taiwanese food sucks!

I want to try adzuki red bean and mung bean for savory “western” style dishes. Salad bowl or stews.

Pretty cheap everywhere. I found it interesting in places like PX mart the mung bean are mostly from china whilst the adzuki are still Taiwanese. Not sure why. Either way, both are cheap and readily available.

A decade or so ago in Pingtung a group studying the excessive use of rodent poisons found out how many ither species were being killed by this atrocious agricultural practice. They formed a…certification?.. called eagle. You can buy those beans which see grown locally and supposedly don’t use the various Rosenthal poisons that ended up killing wages and countless other ajiams. The price is more or less the same, and at least supports less poison going to our ground water and native species

And pulses, like chick peas

Both

The Greek chickpea stew is very good

There’s a filler I can get behind. Or cold with some vegetables, Some feta and quinoa, yum!

Which has more carbs than protein, but still a decent source of protein.

For those into Taiwanese beans. The mung beans cook fast and make an excellent hummus base  I’m done with chick pea cooking times!

Two fine establishments on the same intersection that I passed yesterday.

I rarely trust a corner shop in a city. But what was fine about them?
