Taiwanese killed in Australia ... road accident

It’s a sad thing being killed on a holiday trip but I wonder … why would Taiwanese want to go and visit a temple in Australia … Taiwan is more than full of them … :s

Religion doesn’t only bring relieve …

Well…Australian betelnut beauties are distracting.

The Temple is of an Taiwanese Buddhist sect I understand

 • maybe they were a pilgrim group?

The road they were on is not really suitable for large buses but they probably were enjoying the scenery near Jamberro Waterfall before they had the accident. Very sad, many appear to be badly hurt as the bus rolled 10 metres off the steep road.

They should have hired a Taiwanese bus driver.

Ever go on a bus tour on Taiwan in the mountains, like Yu Shan or Ri Yue Tan, those guys are crazy.

But it is sad. Hopefully they will develop the roads better to prevent future accidents.

What the hell is so bad about dying on vacation?

Is it better to die of a heart attack in your office?

I’d prefer to die doing something I enjoy doing on vacation.

It’s Australia for gods sake … so much more to see than temples … kangaroos … and kangaroos … oh kangaroos … ohoh and cute koalas … but going to a temple and than having to die … such a shame …

I hope they don’t. More tourists = more cars = more accidents.

The temple wasn’t even open.

I just found out two of the people on board were my father-in-law’s best friend and his wife. Hard to get details, but it seems both of them have broken backs. :frowning:

The man (who can speak good English, and who I have met several times) is a really nice guy, and I hope both he and his wife can recover.

Just last year another good friend of my father-in-law (and his business partner), who I had also met, died suddenly of a bizarre medical condition. Went to the hospital with a sore stomach, and died within a couple of hours.

:frowning:

Sorry to hear about that.

Oh, my. That’s really sad. Here’s hoping they make a full recovery…

Thanks guys,
I went to see them both last weekend and the “good” news is that the guy does not have a broken back, “just” broken ribs. His wife however DOES have a broken back as well as what looked (to me) like a broken arm. The good news for her is that her spinal cord is intact, so she should make a reasonabble recovery, though given her age, this will be long, slow and painful.

All in all, I was relieved to see the condition they were in.
