I was unaware of this case until I read this thread. Little appears to be clear. Is there any basis whatsoever for these charges? I find it highly suspicious that someone who was seen as somehow representative of a pro-democracy movement purely because of her looks is being targeted with charges relating to an interview conducted by someone working for a publication which, from what I can find out, is believed to be backed by the Chinese state.
This is not to say that she is not guilty, nor is it to say that she is guilty, since in the law, we are all assumed innocent until proven otherwise as surely SOME of you understand. If anyone has links that strongly show her having links to drugs and prostituion, I’d like to see them. If you don’t, shut the hell up.
Liou had apparently entered the U.S. lawfully on a temporary visitor visa on May 2019 but failed to depart by her required exit date in August the same year.
Maybe the other allegations are true. Maybe not. But a visa overstay is a visa overstay.
