I want to get some device that’s similar to an Alexa or Google Dot in Taiwan so I can listen to music when I go to bed (cuz I need my music) but the only device I have is my phone but with the phone, it’s too distracted since I gotta go to bed early and wake up early.
I heard there’s Xiao Ai Tong Xue 小愛同學, which sounds extremely cute, but how well does it work? Can it at least connect to Spotify? If not, any other suggestions?
別說「只要不要聽音樂。」>:(
Edit: FYI I do have an Alexa but it’s back in America
If u don’t mind uncle xi listening to everything u say. That xiaomi stuff works only in Chinese ofc, I bought it way back in HK, never worked that well though with me.
Doesn’t the Google Assistant also speak Chinese? They’re selling the Nest Hub in Taiwan which has one integrated - that one also doubles as a picture frame.
Well what musical platform can it connect to? As long as it’s as good as Spotify. I don’t wanna have to pay money for every damn song I purchase. Plus more than half of the music I listen to before bed is in Chinese.
I brought mine from Canada. Anyways, if you want to buy something here, get another Alexa device and when you go home you can have an extra one for the kitchen or the bathroom. Using the same alexa account
If you have an echo dot, and you get another one, you can pair them when you get home and have stereo sound. Works with regular echo if that’s what you have
Echo is the device. Alexa is the assistant. I use my Echo to talk to Alexa. Still waiting for a proper AI update.
I was surprised that there weren’t many available smart home accessories in Taiwan when I came. I was led to expect a “high tech” island. Lots of the stuff on Shoppee is shipped from China. I wouldn’t expect a low tech place like this to develop their own hardware or software if they’re not interested in adopting what is already available.
What is the mainland equivalent, maybe that has some traction here? Then again, might as well invite the CCP to stay on your sofa!
Yes, exactly.
I’m looking for a similar device, but that could support Chinese as well.
All I can find now is in Simplified Chinese from Taobao. The most popular one is Xiao Ai Tong Xue from XiaoMi, but you’re right to assume I don’t want Mr. Xi sitting on the couch next to me and my kids.
I was really hoping there would be some Taiwanese options available by now.
I thought CHT had some devices that they force on you when signing a contract. In fact, I remember them even having a voice assistant in Tai-gi, not just Hanyu. However nearly all my experiences with CHT devices and customer service have been terrible…
