You say that like it’s a bad thing?

The link from the OP had other articles which included:

I Think We’re Both Crushing But He Won’t Meet Me Halfway
(Gee Whiz! When was the last time you said THAT!!!OMG!)

He Isn’t Interested Anymore (But Was He Ever Into Me?)

The Winner and Loser in A Breakup - Which Were You?

Maybe I should have taken the time to read some of this, but I got the feeling that for most of the readers, virginity is gonna be theirs for a few more years.

God, I feel old.

But at least I have something to look forward to . . .

36 hundred! :lick:

Having deflowered virgins who were not too far off the end of childbearing age in the past I would say that personal attitudes run the gamut.

It’s exactly like Bismarck put it: put on a public mask of conservatism, go wild behind closed doors. Taiwanese love to smugly talk about how decadent the Japanese are while consuming porn like it’s going out of style, and how “one-night stand” Westerners are, while there’s a love motel/sex KTV/brothel on every corner.[/quote]

Yes. I’d never seen so many sex shops and motels that were blatantly for sexual encounters until I came here.

Having said that, I think Westerners and the West can be pretty hypocritical and smug about morals too. We like to think of ourselves/our civilisation as being right up there on human rights and the rule of law, for instance. Yet the past eight years of the Bush administration and those administrations of various cronies in other Western nations have sorely tested that notion. Even those not involved have sat on their hands while it all happened.

I think there is a certain level of hypocrisy and smugness present in any culture, it’s just expressed in different ways and to different degrees.

Wait a sec, are you talking about women who are still virgins like after the age of 35?

Virginity and sex don’t mix.

Close, and on the other hands also dated women in their early 20’s who casually suggested sex after 2 hours of small talk.

So attitudes here are all over the place.

2 hours of small talk! You must have been hard up.

Well, some times we have to work for it.

My god, it sounds SO MUCH like Mainland China! I used to think that it was different in Taiwan (especially after I visited it albeit for a short time) but now, when I hear more stories and hear more and more people talk, it’s clear to me that things are just as hypocritical in Taiwan…Shouldn’t be surprised, I guess. The “face culture”… :ponder:
