Seamail? I thought they had stopped that service? Hmm, maybe only to certain countries. You’re lucky as there’s none to Canada anymore. Try mailing your books back by airmail.
No, they have three levels of service to the UK, the most expensive costing 400NT per kilo, on top of the flat rate standard charge. It wasn’t vital that I had 60 kilos of notebooks, Chinese dictionaries and shoes right away, so I went for the cheapest service for my least important stuff that I didn’t want to throw away.
I get stuff sent by boat often and I’ve sent stuff out by boat just recently.(Canada) Doesn’t sound right. Are you sure you did not just misunderstand a post office employee or something? Maybe it’s just certain things that can’t go on the boat.
I like how they always let me into the mail sorting area at the local post offices here to find my own packages. It displays this level of trust and laziness that you just couldn’t find anywhere else.
Just over a month seems pretty quick for seamail - congrats
Are you sure about that? I mailed all my stuff back to Canaduh via seamail… and I’m still picking up boxes my friend sent via seamail to me, here in Canaduh… she mailed them in December/January.
I have had nothing but good experiences with the local post. Always fast friendly and efficient! and crazy cheap! and I mean crazy cheap. Plus I have never once had them charge me duty or import tax on anything that has been sent to me.
Once I had to send some Marzocchi Qr20 front shocks to Canada; Fed Ex wanted 6000 NT, the post office did it for 1137 NT and it got there in 9 days.
I have nothing but good to say about the local post service.
I completely agree on Taiwan Post. I"ve shifted many a box through there and it really is one of the smoothest and easiest things to do. Thus far everything I’ve sent arrived right when they said it would.
Don’t know anythig about shipping to Canada, but I’ve made successful shipments to HK and Australia.
US seamail was cancelled, which makes it twice more expensive sending stuff to Central America. So, I use the EMS service. Just a bit more, and it is there delivered door to door in 4 days.

I just sent a 5 and a half pound box of stuff to Taiwan from SAn Francisco and it cost me 40 bucks american !!And thats airmail box rate. its not cheap to send stuff TO taiwan. Great rates from OUT of Taiwan it seems.
I have grown to be a huge fan of Taiwan Post, for many of the reasons previously mentioned.
Good, & often great, helpful service at good rates.
I recently helped 2 friends move something like 20 big boxes back to S. Africa. The staff exceeded all expectations, even helping us repack a few overweight boxes.
I’m sure this isall part of a vast cosmic array of allied forces specifically grouped so as to subtly prompt the revival of letter-writing.
Remember those, anyone?
I’ve been meaning to get back to where I once belonged for quite some time. This is just the ticket. My next day off, it’s to the stationer’s for a new fountain pen, some fine paper, and a whole, lotta rosie…
Huzzah!
do they have pre-paid shipping boxes like USPS? or any shipping boxes available at all? I just want to send some small trinkets back to the US but dont have any boxes to package them in.
Prepaid isnt always what it seems like. The US postal service offers a prepaid box service and its 37.50 to Taiwan from the bay area by air. But you MUST use the box that they provide (its free, which is a good thing) and although the weight limit is 20 pounds, the box is tiny. Its only 11 x 8.5 x 5.5 inches. but you can ship heavy stuff in it.
