Taking the Plunge to Taiwan (not Taipei)

Hey guys,

Just wanted some quick info about Taiwan before I buy my flight down there.

  1. Is it true that getting a job in country is easier and better than being out of country?

  2. Looking to move to Taichung (well anywhere in a city that’s not Taipei) how is the job market there?

  3. Realistically how much time does it take to get a job after arriving in a city (like Taichung)?

  4. What is a decent pay rate in Taichung?

Background info: I’ve been an English teacher for 2 years in Korea. I am a white (hate that race is considered)/male/US passport holder in my mid-20s.

You should be fine if you hustle. Get your demo down and be less aggressive in your negotiations as it is not the heady days of 15 years ago.

TaiChung should be fun. I have quite a few friends down that way that are lovin’ it and they used to be Taipeinese.
