Hi,
My family and I will leave Taiwan in Feb 2019 and still own a house here. We are planning to rent it out to cover the remaining monthly mortgage payments but don’t know what to do tax-wise. As we will not be in Taiwan for over 183 days per year, what is the tax rate we would have to pay on this rental income?
To reduce our tax burden, would it be possible to have the rental income paid directly to my FIL who is retired in Taiwan and for him to then pay the mortgage for us?
What have other people done with their property when they leave Taiwan? Selling is not really an option for us as my wife doesn’t want to lose the sense of security and we are probably in negative equity anyway as we bought at the top of the market a few years ago.
Thanks
