Teach without getting paid

Do you know anybody recently who has been able to change over their visa in Taiwan from visitor to working. I think everybody now has to get it all done before entering Taiwan(even if they come and go on a visa run) so it is usual if you are hiring from abroad that all paperwork is finalised before arriving.

Me.

This was 2 years ago, however, that I changed my visitor visa to a work visa without having to leave Taiwan.

Lean on them and they will pay. Threaten them with the media and the foreign police. The foreign police usually follow up on complaints and they know this.

Me too. I arrived in Taiwan last December. I had a job lined up before I came, and they instructed me to get a visitor visa (for tourism) and just change it when I arrived. They claimed it would have been impossible to get a visa suitable for working from outside of Taiwan.

Of course, they turned out to be lying scumbags.

So maybe this should be another one for the “dirty rotten agents” thread. And maybe a sticky with a title " If you have a job enter on a work visa."
