TECO (visa) offices in Vietnam?

Is it possible to get a 60-day visa in Vietnam? Anybody with experience getting a visa from a TECO office in either Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi please share.

I’m American, traveling from southeast Asia to Taiwan in a couple months, but am told I can only get a 30-day visa to Taiwan from most of the TECO offices in southeast Asia.

Thanks for any advice!

I got 60 days in HCM City earlier this year. I think it took 3 days to process. Oddly enough, they were profoundly concerned about obtaining one of my business cards – they wouldn’t stick the (already prepared) visa into my passport until I gave them one. :unamused:

Any update on this ? What is the office in Hanoi like ? My wife (British passport) intends to get a bog standard tourist visa in Hanoi. How long does it take ?

I’m an English teacher ! Will I need a business card ?! (Could I give them a Forumosa one !?)

I already PM’d hexuan on this, but for anyone else, they can issue 60-day visas, but you need a convincing reason for them to do so, and expect them to ask you for proof. While Chinese study is one reason, there are others. I told them I wanted 60 days because I was a freelance journalist and needed that much time to travel the island and do my story. I suppose if you print up a business card with “award-winning photojournalist” on it, you might just get your 60 days. It’s not really paid employment, so there’s no reason for the TECO office to refuse to give you a tourist visa.

It’s 4 or 5 years ago now but I got a 60 day extendable visa in Hanoi, no questions asked. I think I chose ‘study’ for purpose of visit.

Can I still get a 60 day visa these days?It can be a visitors or student visa.
