Tell me about the best steak you have had in Taiwan

But I would still like to try this.

A dinner at Ruth’s Chris will run about nt$5-6,000 for two with a reasonable bottle of wine. Their menu is the same as in the US.

just curious as to what your definition of steak is…

Best steak I have ever had in Taipei was at A Cut at the Ambassador Hotel. It’s a little on the spendy side but great for special occassions. Comparable to Sparks or Peter Luger in NYC.

The porterhouse, filet, ribeye and strip there are all great.

Range is maybe 3k-8k per person typical but obviously depends a lot on your choice of wine and/or bubbly.

What I miss a bit from the states are the no-frills places that simply offer great steaks at great values. An example might be Rays the Steaks in DC or any number of Midwest steak houses. Really the key thing to look for is the whether they are using USDA prime or the equivalent, whether they are dry aging the beef, and whether they are using infrared induction cookers or not post sear. These three things usually net a great steak regardless of price. The rest of the premium really is just about ambviance.
